Meat Thermometer: Michael Phelps

There is no hotter side of beef right now than Olympic Champion swimmer Michael Phelps. He set the record for most gold medals in a single Olympics, became the most medaled Olympian ever, reportedly stands to make as much as $100 million off endorsements, and just earned the coveted Sports Illustrated cover wearing some sort of gold medal halter top. And despite all that, all anybody seems to care about is who this guy’s boinking. There are reports out there that he’s dating Amanda Beard (false), that he is shacking up with some smoking Burberry Model named Lily Donaldson (unclear), and that country hottie Carrie Underwood thinks he’s a cute (true). On Underwood, Phelps apparently tells ExtraTV, “That’s the first I’ve heard of that. That’s pretty cool.” Um, ya think?

Yet it would appear that Phelps has a thing for the older ladies. When Extra asked him if there are any actresses he likes, he responded, “Cameron Diaz seems pretty cool. She seems like she has a cool personality.” We knew we liked this guy.

So, of course, Phelps basically explodes the Meat Thermometer. But we like him for reasons beyond his incredible achievements and his newfound ability to have pretty much any woman he wants. We like him because despite all that he’s a sorta goofy-looking Average Joe (albeit one with an Olympian swimmer’s body and double-jointed ankles). Now we know if we simply train 20 hours a day for the rest of our lives and win an unprecedented number of gold medals, we too may be able to enjoy the embarrassment of riches Phelps has. It’s the Olympic dream!

What say you, ladies? Just how hot is Phelps right now? Like Hansel hot? Oh, and a bonus question? With any beautiful cougar to choose from, just who should the greatest Olympian ever pick to tag? We’re thinking Elle Macpherson. If some hockey nobody can bag Rachel Hunter, Phelps ought to be able to have the greatest of them all, no?
